At Lawall Orthotic & Prosthetic Services, we know that the needs of older patients often require specialized treatment. The presence of other medical conditions-and sometimes multiple conditions-may complicate design requirements for an appropriate orthosis.

Recovery time following injuries, illnesses, or surgery may be longer, since the elderly usually heal less quickly. The promptness with which an orthoses may be safely and comfortably fitted depends on the patient's rate of recovery following injury or other procedures. Not only recovery time, but also adjustment time may be prolonged for the patient; learning a new lifestyle that includes their new brace can be more challenging for the less-adaptable adults.
